Lighting Capacitors

Power factor of fluorescent, Sodium and Mercury vapour discharge lamps is as low as 0.3 tot 0.6 due to chokes used in them.Low power factor necessitates higher current requirement for the same amount of power, resulting in lower efficiency and poor voltage regulation. Hence these capacitors are used in fluorescent fitting to improve the power factor.These capacitors are fitted with discharge device.
